The Baby Boom was Canada's soaring birthrate from the end of WWII until about 1965.This was due to improving economic conditions post war. During this period an average of 400, 000 babies were born every from 1946-1965.
Demand for Consumer Goods
Canada's manufacturing industries saw great growth during the 50s and 60s. Consumers goods such as televisions, radios, record players, and refrigerators, and record players were in high demand. This demand affected the service industry and as a result, department stores and supermarkets opened to meet consumer demand for these products.
Entertainment
The 50s and 60s saw the introduction of television, and shows like Hockey Night in Canada and Front Page Challenge were popular among all. Drive through movies and restaurants became popular as well.
Elvis Presley and The Beatles were popular music icons during the 50s and 60s. The Beatles had their first concert in Canada on September 7,1964 at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto. The "king" of rock 'n roll- Elvis Presley had a huge influence on music culture in Canada.

The Toronto Maple Leafs and Quebec's Montreal Canadians each won 9 Stanley Cups between 1945-1967.
Marilyn Bell was the fist person to swim Lake Ontario in 1954 and the youngest to cross the English Channel.
